ETHICAL PRODUCTION

The manufacturing process is a huge part of what we do at Rooh Collective and it is vital for us to partner only with stitching units with similar values. We source fabrics from businesses where their employees work in comfortable and humane conditions and fair labour practices are implemented. We are proud to say we own our studio in Mumbai, where our dresses are made, and our core team members Meenu (Akshay’s mum) and Shashi ensure our staff are treated with the utmost respect and love, in a safe and enjoyable working environment.

Most of our pieces often are made by a single artisan, making them completely exclusive and unique. Our artisans take a lot of pride in their pieces and operate in small teams of up to 6 people. It is our choice to operate like this and to only produce small production runs because as part of our artistic and sustainable values, we want to make a conscious effort to reduce fast fashion and make the fashion industry a more slow, circular and consciously driven one. We believe it is quality over quantity all the way.

SUSTAINABLE PROCESSES

We want to ensure each Rooh pice is made ethically and has been sustinabaly sourced, in order to have as little impact on our beautiful environment as possible. Rooh was born to provide stable employment for incredibly talented artisans, to showcase their skills and empower them as people, and we can promise to maintain this transparency in the care for our artisans and the respect for our planet for as long as we are Rooh Collective.
